There were lots of choices and the team members were well fuelled for the afternoon. It was a productive day and the results are much appreciated by Doug and Alison.

On April 4th, the first event of the Social Committee of the Park Stages Crew was held. We met for dinner at the Colonnade (Pizza of course!) and then walked to the NAC. The Dave Young Trio provided a wonderful soundtrack for the evening, which celebrated Oscar Peterson’s performing and recording career in the German Black Forest. The evening was presented by the German embassy and there were stories, photos and videos in addition to the music. In addition to the Park Stages Crew, attendees included the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien and his wife, the German Ambassador and his wife and many jazz fans! It was a wonderful evening and it was great to get together in our off season. Hopefully there will be more events! - 2012-01-21 Happy Birthday Bruce!
Bruce Thomas, one of our stalwart volunteers with 19 years of experience setting up shows on the main stage, celebrated his FIFTIETH birthday. Several of us were able to join him and his family and friends for his surprise party. Great company, great food and three different birthday cakes. Congratulations Bruce! - 2011-08-27 Work Party
Andrew won the draw for the work party so eleven of our Stage Volunteers gathered at Andrew Hamlin’s house on Saturday, Aug 27 with beautiful weather and lots of jobs to do. The crew included Bruce, Bill, Carol, John, Brad, Don, Jennifer, Riek, Doug, Andrew and Henry. Work included taming the gardens and lawns, scraping and sanding window frames, re-arranging a garbage storage area beside the house, taking down a small tree, brick re-pointing and grouting around windows, and gutting a sunroom area above the front porch (totally removing inside walls, ceiling and floor). This last job was a really dirty one because of all the squirrel nests that had
accumulated over the years. In fact, one of the nests was still in use and contained at least 3 babies (about 15 cm long plus tail and huge feet). I say “at least” because we think there may have been a fourth baby that the mother hid somewhere. Andrew and Joni provided a really nice lunch and snacks, – much appreciated by all.It was a productive day and the results are much appreciated by the Hamlins. Henry’s pictures are here and Riek’s are here. - November 23, 2011 – Annual General Meeting
