Moore Farm estate – day 1 – August 19th, 2021
So today was day 1 of the “in-person” jazz festival at both Confederation Park in Ottawa, and the Moore Farm estate in Gatineau.
The Stage crew was in on Wednesday to finalize the audio setup and back this morning, Aug 19th, to help the one staff member (James Richardson) with the audience chairs, ensuring that the spacing was proper based on the Quebec Health COVID directive.
The place looks great, and everyone pitched in to assist with the final setting up this morning.
Many thanks to Michael Lechasseur and Dough Thompson (Stage Volunteers) with your assistance in finalizing the audio patching and setup on Wednesday Aug 19th.
Of course nothing ever goes smoothly so we had to call in a crew on Thursday, Aug 20th, in the morning, to get delivery of the chairs for the audience and set them up in a COVID mandated setup.
For this, thanks to John Cvetan (Jazz Fest Volunteer Coord), Douglas Thompson (Stage Volunteer extraordinaire) and James Richardson ( Jazz Office Staff) with the help to ensure that the chairs were laid in place for COVID spacing.
For day 1 at Moore Farm, we had the luxury of hosting the Moonfruits.
This duo really rocked the place with some audience interaction. Even some of the old foot stomping folklore music (All that was missing was the sash and I would have been at home) that even got me going back to my roots.
The audience were clapping hands but the people outside the barn were stomping and dancing.
All in all, a great evening for the full house.
The barn is a great venue, the sound and lighting is great (Victor Menasce and crew, audio).
We all had a great time and heard some great music.
Looking forward to Day 2 at Moore Farm in Gatineau, with Birdie Whyte.
